A new hiking trail in a fantastic location - on the peninsula separating the Juodieji and Baltieji Lakajai lakes.
The 8 km track offers a leisurely walk full of wonderful views. In some places, Ščiūrio ragas narrows, so you can see the waters of Baltieji and Juodieji Lakajai lakes, which meet at the end of the peninsula. A true diamond of nature with extraordinary beauty could be called the peninsula inside a peninsula here – Cibaragis. The uniqueness of Ščiūrio ragas is also highlighted by the natural heritage object growing at the beginning of the peninsula - the double-trunked pine. This trail is distinguished by its unique location: nowhere else in Lithuania is there such a peninsula between two lakes. It is a narrow stretch of land, washed by waters on both sides. It is also part of the Labanoras forest, so there is no shortage of natural magic there.
The hiking trail of the Ščiūrio ragas is like getting to know the spirit of Labanoras forest – Lakaja. The information stands of this trail are designed to be interesting not only for adults, but also for children. The trail is also equipped with interactive technical solutions, so it will be interesting for the whole family.
Ščiūrio ragas creates a kind of microclimate which is suitable for the growth of unusual and even rare plants of the Labanoras forest, which are recorded in the Red Book. Here you can see great crested grebes, goosanders, great cormorants, gray herons, many species of ducks and the osprey, which has become the symbol of the Labanoras Regional Park.
In order to ensure the protection of the landscape and biodiversity, access to the peninsula by car is restricted. The parking lot is located at the very beginning of the trail, and visitors will be able to cover the 8 km route on foot. Not all 8 km of the trail are suitable for riding bicycles or baby carriages, but you can go from the parking lot to the farthest corner of the forest on forest roads. Since the establishment of the Labanoras Regional Park, it has been forbidden to camp with tents or make bonfires in this area. This ban remains in effect and will continue to be enforced. Nevertheless, Ščiurio Ragas is a great place for picnics with both friends and family. Here, everyone will find a place to sit down and eat the treats they brought, they can explore nature or simply enjoy its peace. You will be refreshed by swimming in one of the many suitable places in Baltieji and Juodieji Lakajai lakes.
